Massive Devotee Turnout Marks Maha Shivratri Celebrations in Agartala

The city of Agartala witnessed an overwhelming surge of devotees on the occasion of Maha Shivratri, as major Shiva temples recorded an extraordinary footfall from the early hours of Monday.

At the historic Battala Shiva Temple and the revered Shiv Bari Temple, long queues of worshippers stretched outside the premises as devotees waited patiently to offer prayers and perform abhishek rituals. Several other temples across the capital city also reported heavy attendance throughout the day.

The temples were beautifully decorated with flowers, garlands and colourful lights, creating a vibrant and spiritual ambience. Priests conducted special pujas and religious ceremonies, while chants of “Har Har Mahadev” echoed continuously, adding to the devotional fervour.

Many devotees observed day-long fasts and participated in night-long prayer sessions, in keeping with the traditional observances of Maha Shivratri. Families, including women, children and elderly citizens, were seen attending the rituals with deep faith and enthusiasm.

To ensure the smooth conduct of the celebrations, local authorities and volunteers put in place elaborate arrangements for crowd management, drinking water facilities and security deployment. Officials confirmed that despite the massive turnout, the celebrations remained peaceful and orderly.

The grand observance of Maha Shivratri once again reflected the strong spiritual devotion and rich cultural heritage of the people of Agartala.
