The Tripura government has announced that teaching will commence at the state’s Ayurvedic and Homeopathic Medical Colleges from the 2026–27 academic session.
Addressing a press conference here in the conference hall of the secretariat on Friday, cabinet minister Sushanta Chowdhury briefed the media on key decisions taken at the recent Cabinet meeting.
The minister informed that the government will complete recruitment for a total of 445 vacant posts across various departments in the coming days.
For the first time in the state, 330 posts have been created under the Tripura Information Technology Service within the Information Technology Department. These include positions such as Assistant Technical Officer, Deputy Technical Officer, Technical Officer, and Senior Technical Officer. Of these, 220 Assistant Technical Officer posts will be filled through direct recruitment by the Tripura Public Service Commission. Candidates holding Bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunication, Information Technology, as well as MCA degree holders, will be eligible to appear for the recruitment examination. The remaining 110 posts will be filled through departmental promotions.
Additionally, 110 Veterinary Officer posts will be filled under the Animal Resources Development Department through the Tripura Public Service Commission. The Health Department will recruit 100 Multi-Purpose Workers (MPWs), comprising 50 male and 50 female candidates.
Regarding medical education, the minister stated that from the 2026–27 academic session, the Ayurvedic Medical College will initially start functioning at Chandrapur in Udaipur, though the permanent campus will be established at Tepania in Udaipur. The Homeopathic Medical College will begin operations at the existing Homeopathic Hospital located in Renters Colony, Agartala. Both colleges will have an intake capacity of 60 seats each.
Further Cabinet decisions include the recruitment of eight Multi-Tasking Staff (Group D) under the Home Department and seven Lower Division Clerks under the Power Department (TREDA). The House Rent Allowance (HRA) for TSR personnel posted in Delhi has been increased from 24 percent to 27 percent.
The Cabinet has also approved an increase in the daily stipend for 37,773 residential students under the Tribal Welfare Department, raising it from ₹80 to ₹100.
The announcements mark a significant step in strengthening medical education and public sector employment in the state.
