PM Modi announces $175 million economic package for Seychelles

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday announced a Special Economic Package of $175 million for Seychelles to support key sectors such as social housing, e-mobility, vocational training, health, defence, and maritime security. The announcement was made during a joint press meeting in New Delhi after talks with Seychelles President Dr Patrick Herminie.
India and Seychelles also signed seven Memoranda of Understanding covering areas including health, meteorology, electronics and information technology, and good governance. Among them is an agreement for technical and scientific cooperation between the India Meteorological Department and the Seychelles Meteorological Authority.
Prime Minister Modi said the two countries share deep historical ties based on trust and a common vision for the future. He noted that as a maritime neighbour and trusted partner, Seychelles holds a special place in India’s Vision MAHASAGAR, aimed at promoting security and growth across the region.
