CM Manik Saha Reviews Measures to Address Stray Animal Menace

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Saturday chaired a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat to evaluate measures being undertaken to control the menace of stray dogs and other animals on roads across the state.
The meeting focused on ensuring public safety, strengthening animal welfare initiatives, and enhancing coordination among concerned departments. Officials discussed the challenges posed by stray animals, particularly the risks to commuters and pedestrians, and reviewed existing mechanisms to address the issue.
Emphasising the need for a balanced and humane approach, the Chief Minister stressed that effective solutions must safeguard both human lives and animal welfare. He directed officials to adopt sustainable strategies and improve inter-departmental coordination to mitigate the problem in a systematic manner.
