Minister Sushanta Chowdhury Reviews Sonamukhi Project in Kailashahar

Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Friday reviewed the progress of the Sonamukhi tourism infrastructure development project in Kailashahar. The project, funded with assistance from the Asian Development Bank and overseen by the State Tourism Department, has already completed around 40 percent of the work.

During the visit, the Minister also inspected a tourist lodge under construction in Kailashahar town. Both projects are expected to be inaugurated by the Chief Minister in the coming months. “The Tourism Department is working with a clear vision. Within the next one to one-and-a-half years, all ongoing projects will be open for public use, placing Tripura firmly on the global tourism map,” Minister Chowdhury said.

The Sonamukhi project aims to develop a sustainable and employment-oriented tourism sector by utilizing Tripura’s rich cultural and natural resources. Planned facilities include an adventure park, eco-friendly accommodations with standard, suite, and deluxe cottages, an administrative building, staff and manager quarters, a banquet hall, and boundary fencing.

Accompanied by Tourism Secretary U K Chakma, Director of Tourism, former MLA Mobashwar Ali, and representatives of the construction agency, the Minister directed officials to ensure timely completion of the project while maintaining high-quality standards.
