Feb 03, 2026
Member of Parliament Rajib Bhattacharjee on Tuesday raised the issue of multiple problems affecting important national highways of the state during the Rajya Sabha session.
In his statement in the House, Bhattacharjee drew the attention of the Union Government to the difficulties being faced by the people due to the poor condition and infrastructure challenges on NH-8 (Mungiakami–Ambassa stretch), NH-108B, NH-208B and NH-208A. He stated that these highways are extremely important for Tripura’s connectivity and economic activities, but frequent damage, lack of timely maintenance and incomplete repair works are causing serious inconvenience to commuters and transporters.
The MP further said that these road stretches serve as lifelines for remote and interior areas, connecting them with district headquarters and major markets. He emphasized that proper maintenance and upgradation of these highways are necessary to ensure safe travel, faster transportation of essential goods and overall development of the state.
Rajib Bhattacharjee urged the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to take immediate and effective measures to resolve the issues and ensure long-term improvement of the national highway network in Tripura.
