CM Manik Saha Hails Union Budget 2026–27, Sees Boost for Healthcare, Tourism and MSMEs

Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Monday praised the Union Budget for 2026–27, calling it “historic” and reflective of the aspirations of over 1.4 billion Indians. He said the budget paves the way for a stronger and more developed India while addressing key sectors like healthcare, agriculture, tourism, and entrepreneurship.

Dr. Saha highlighted plans to establish a medical hub to train healthcare professionals and welcomed customs duty exemptions on 17 cancer drugs and seven medicines for rare diseases. He also pointed to the proposal for a second National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in North India.

On financial allocations, the Chief Minister noted that 41 percent of the nation’s revenue has been earmarked for states, ensuring Tripura benefits from the distribution. He further emphasized the budget’s focus on promoting tourism in the Northeast by preserving and modernizing temples and monasteries, which is expected to strengthen Tripura’s tourism industry and socio-economic growth.

Dr. Saha also praised the support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and traditional handicrafts, saying the measures would empower local entrepreneurs to expand their reach globally. He described the budget as a blend of human-centric governance and fiscal prudence, balancing deficit control, inflation management, and high capital expenditure to fuel economic growth.
