Assam CM Urges Calm Response to Electoral Roll Revision Notices
Feb 02, 2026
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday urged citizens who have received notices during the ongoing Special Revision (SR) of electoral rolls in the state to remain calm and cooperate with the authorities.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a government programme in Goalpara district, Sarma said the SR process is a constitutional exercise and there is no need for panic among those who have been issued notices.
“If a notice is served, one can simply appear before the election officials and state that they are Indians. The matter ends there. There is nothing to panic about,” the chief minister said.
He added that citizens should respond to the notices without “creating any fuss” and assist officials in completing the verification process smoothly.
Sarma also said that he himself would submit his credentials if any complaint is filed against him through Form 7, which allows objections to be raised regarding entries in the electoral rolls.
The Special Revision of electoral rolls is currently underway across Assam as part of routine electoral verification procedures.
