Mayor Dipak Majumder Announces Crackdown on Illegal Parking, Footpath Encroachment in Agartala

Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Dipak Majumder on Saturday announced a strict crackdown on illegal vehicle parking and footpath encroachments in the city, effective from February 3.

Speaking at a press conference at the AMC office, Mayor Majumder said the move aims to reduce traffic congestion, ensure smooth pedestrian movement, and promote urban discipline. “Illegal parking and unauthorized business activities on footpaths have long caused inconvenience to commuters and residents,” he said.

The Mayor noted that traders and vehicle owners have been given sufficient time to comply voluntarily. However, starting February 3, strict measures will be enforced, including fines, towing of illegally parked vehicles, and removal of unauthorized roadside stalls and encroachments.

Appealing for public cooperation, Mayor Majumder urged citizens to join efforts to make Agartala cleaner, more organized, and traffic-free. He also assured that AMC authorities will conduct regular monitoring and enforcement drives to ensure effective implementation of the new measures.
