Rüsoma Orange Festival Kicks Off in Nagaland

The 5th edition of the Rüsoma Orange Festival commenced on Friday at Rüsoma village, located about 10 kilometres from Nagaland’s capital, Kohima. Organised under the theme “Abundance of Rüsoma,” the two-day event aims to promote village welfare, boost rural entrepreneurship, and acknowledge the contributions of local orange growers while showcasing the unique flavour of Rüsoma oranges.

The festival features cultural performances, recreational activities, and stalls offering fast food, traditional local dishes, orange saplings, and other local products. Orange cultivation forms the backbone of the village’s economy, with 470 out of 570 households engaged in farming.

Rüsoma village plans to expand its orange orchards to 100 hectares over the next six to seven years and is expected to produce nearly 25 lakh oranges annually in the coming years.
