Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha Leads Tripura’s AI Awareness Initiative Ahead of INDIAai Impact Summit 2026


Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, on Friday spearheaded the State’s push towards artificial intelligence awareness by inaugurating a Regional-Level AI Awareness Workshop in Agartala ahead of the prestigious INDIAai Impact Summit 2026.

The programme, organized by the Directorate of Information Technology, Government of Tripura, was held at Pragya Bhavan as part of the national pre-summit outreach campaign. The upcoming INDIAai Impact Summit is scheduled to take place on February 19–20, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, and was announced by the Hon’ble Prime Minister during the France AI Action Summit 2025, marking India’s growing leadership in the global AI ecosystem.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha emphasized the transformative role of artificial intelligence in strengthening governance, improving service delivery, and enhancing administrative efficiency. He said that equipping students and young professionals with AI skills is essential for preparing Tripura’s workforce for future challenges and ensuring inclusive digital growth.

The event was attended by Kiran Gitte, IAS, Secretary, IT Department, and Suprakash Jamatia, Director (In-Charge), IT, along with nearly 350 participants, including students and faculty members from premier institutions such as NIT Agartala, National Law University Tripura, Indian Institute of Information Technology, and the National Forensic Sciences University.

Expert sessions were conducted by Dr. Suman Deb (NIT Agartala), Dr. Tanmoy Bhowmik, Vice President and Head of AI & Data Science at Paytm, and Prof. (Dr.) Nachiketa Mittal, Registrar of NLU Tripura, who discussed Digital India initiatives and the adoption of ethical, secure, and inclusive AI frameworks.

The workshop highlighted the objectives of the INDIAai Mission, launched under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology with an outlay of over ₹10,300 crore, aimed at building a strong AI ecosystem under the vision of “Making AI in India and Making AI Work for India.”

Chief Secretary Sinha also noted that the Government of Tripura, in collaboration with INDIAai, has initiated steps to establish AI laboratories in educational institutions across the state to ensure students gain access to advanced training and hands-on learning.
