ICC Replaces Bangladesh with Scotland in T20 World Cup Group C

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that Scotland will replace Bangladesh in Group C of the T20 World Cup, which is set to begin on February 7 and will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

In a formal letter to member boards, ICC Chief Executive Sanjog Gupta stated that Bangladesh had requested its scheduled matches be moved away from India, a demand the ICC said was not in line with its policies. As a result, the ICC decided there was no alternative but to remove Bangladesh from the competition and include Scotland instead.

A copy of the letter was also sent to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam, who serves as a member of the ICC Board. Gupta separately wrote to Cricket Scotland, formally inviting the team to participate in the tournament.

The ICC had earlier given Bangladesh time to reconsider its position but said it remained committed to protecting the integrity and sanctity of the World Cup.

Scotland will now compete in Group C during the opening stage of the tournament. Their fixtures include matches against West Indies on February 7, Italy on February 9, and England in Kolkata on February 14, before traveling to Mumbai to face Nepal on February 17.
