PM Modi Urges Start-ups, Industry to Focus on Quality as India’s Economy Grows

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon industries and start-ups, particularly the youth, to place greater emphasis on quality, saying that India’s economy is progressing rapidly and the world is closely watching the country’s growth.

Addressing the nation in his monthly Mann Ki Baat radio programme on Sunday, the Prime Minister urged people to commit themselves to improving the quality of everything manufactured in India. He said excellence should be the benchmark and reiterated his vision of “Zero Defect, Zero Effect,” first articulated from the Red Fort. Mr Modi added that this approach is essential to accelerate India’s journey towards becoming a Viksit Bharat.

On the occasion of National Voters’ Day, the Prime Minister described voters as the soul of democracy. He said that when a young citizen becomes a voter for the first time, the entire neighbourhood, village or city should come together to congratulate them and celebrate the moment.

Ahead of Republic Day, Mr Modi said the Constitution came into effect on this day, providing an opportunity to pay homage to the founding fathers of the Constitution.

Speaking on culture, the Prime Minister said bhajans and kirtans have been the soul of Indian tradition for centuries, adding that today’s youth are blending devotion with modern lifestyles. He noted the emergence of a new trend called “bhajan clubbing,” which is gaining popularity among Gen Z.

Mr Modi also praised the Indian community in Malaysia for preserving and promoting Indian culture. He highlighted the presence of over 500 Tamil schools in Malaysia, where several subjects are taught in Tamil, along with a focus on other Indian languages such as Telugu and Punjabi. He also mentioned the “Lal Paad Saree” iconic walk organised by the Malaysia India Heritage Society, noting its cultural connection to Bengal.

The Prime Minister further said that the India AI Impact Summit, to be held next month, will showcase India’s progress and achievements in the field of artificial intelligence.
