Gold and silver prices in the Indian bullion market eased on Thursday after touching record highs in the previous session, as investors booked profits amid easing global geopolitical tensions and a stronger US dollar.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for the February contract was trading nearly 0.5 per cent lower at ₹1,52,168 per 10 grams. Silver for the March contract also slipped over 0.7 per cent to ₹3,16,175 per kilogram at the time of reporting.
Reflecting the decline in bullion prices, gold and silver exchange-traded funds fell by as much as 15 per cent during the session, a day after rallying to fresh lifetime highs.
