Assembly Pays Tribute to Late Speaker Bishwabandhu Sen
Jan 07, 2026A solemn condolence and remembrance meeting was held on Wednesday at the lobby of the Tripura Legislative Assembly to mourn the demise of former Speaker Bishwabandhu Sen. The programme witnessed the presence of senior leaders cutting across party lines, reflecting the respect and regard the late leader commanded in public life.
Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Assembly Chief Whip Kalyani Roy, Leader of the Opposition Jiten Choudhury, Deputy Speaker Ram Prasad Paul, along with several other MLAs and dignitaries, attended the memorial meeting and paid floral tributes. The leaders recalled Bishwabandhu Sen’s long political journey, his role as Speaker of the Assembly, and his commitment to democratic values and legislative decorum.
Speakers at the meeting described the late leader as a disciplined parliamentarian and a dedicated public servant who always worked in the interest of the people and the institution of the Assembly. A moment of silence was observed as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
