Teen Goes Missing After Boat Capsizes in Dumboor Water Reservoir
Jan 05, 2026A major search operation is underway after an 18-year-old youth, Dharmajit Chakma of Gandacherra, went missing on Sunday evening when the boat he was traveling in capsized at the Dumboor Water Reservoir near Narikelkunja.
According to eyewitnesses, the boat overturned unexpectedly, causing Dharmajit to fall into the water. Rescue teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Fire Service were immediately dispatched to the scene. Despite extensive efforts through Sunday night, the young man has not yet been located.
Search operations resumed early Monday morning with additional personnel and equipment deployed to widen the area being combed. Authorities confirmed that the rescue efforts are ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
