India Under-19 opened their three-match Youth ODI series with a 25-run victory over South Africa Under-19 under the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern (DLS) method at Willowmoore Park, Benoni, on Saturday.
Asked to bat first, India were bowled out for 300 in their allotted 50 overs. Harvansh Pangalia led the batting with a fluent 93, while R.S. Ambrish provided solid support with 65.
South Africa, chasing a target of 301, were 148 for 4 in 27.4 overs when rain and lightning interrupted play. With conditions preventing a restart, the match was abandoned and India were declared winners under DLS calculations.
The series is viewed as important preparation for both teams ahead of the ICC Under-19 World Cup, scheduled to begin on the 15th of this month. India are led by Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the series.
