Guwahati will host a two-day national conference of textile ministers from January 8, aimed at strengthening India’s textile sector and advancing its position as a global manufacturing hub.
Organised by the Ministry of Textiles in association with the Assam government, the conference is themed “India’s Textiles: Weaving Growth, Heritage & Innovation.” Union and state textile ministers, along with senior officials from the Centre and states, will participate in the discussions.
The deliberations will focus on coordinated policy efforts to achieve the national target of building a USD 350-billion textile industry and boosting textile exports to USD 100 billion by 2030.
The inaugural session will be attended by Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Union Minister of State for Textiles Pabitra Margherita, among other dignitaries.
