PM Modi to Inaugurate India’s First Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Between Kolkata and Guwahati


Prime Minister Narendra Modi will soon flag off India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train operating between Kolkata and Guwahati. Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the inauguration is expected within the next 15 to 20 days.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi on Thursday, Mr Vaishnaw said that Indian Railways has successfully completed the final high-speed trial of the indigenously designed and manufactured Vande Bharat Sleeper Train. The 16-coach train has been developed to meet the needs of long-distance travel ranging from 1,000 to 1,500 kilometres.

The train will be equipped with modern passenger amenities, including comfortable sleeper berths, automatic doors and contemporary toilet facilities. According to the minister, the fare is expected to be around ₹2,300 for Third AC with food, ₹3,000 for Second AC, and ₹3,600 for First AC.
