The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has introduced 11 new train services in 2025 to enhance rail connectivity across the Northeast and neighbouring regions, officials said on Tuesday.
According to an official statement, the new services aim to improve passenger convenience while strengthening links between key destinations in the region and the rest of the country.
A major milestone this year was the introduction of direct rail connectivity to Mizoram. Train services to Sairang began in September with the launch of the weekly Sairang–Anand Vihar Rajdhani Express. This was followed by the introduction of the daily Guwahati–Sairang Express and the Kolkata–Sairang Express, which operates three days a week.
In addition, the NFR expanded train services within Assam and neighbouring states to meet growing passenger demand and support regional development.
