Dec 27, 2025
Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma scripted history during the third T20 International against Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram by breaking multiple records across formats. With bowling figures of 3 for 18, Deepti took her overall international wicket tally to 333, surpassing Australia great Ellyse Perry to become the third-highest wicket-taker in women’s international cricket.
In T20 Internationals, Deepti became the first Indian cricketer—across both men’s and women’s cricket—to claim 150 wickets. She now has 151 T20I wickets, equalling Australia’s Megan Schutt. Deepti also achieved a unique milestone by becoming the first player in the world to score 1,000 runs and take 150 wickets in T20Is, having scored 1,100 runs at an average of 23.40.
In One-Day Internationals, Deepti has taken 162 wickets, making her India’s second-highest wicket-taker after Jhulan Goswami, while she has 20 wickets in five Test matches. Overall, only Jhulan Goswami and England’s Katherine Brunt have taken more wickets than Deepti in women’s international cricket.
