Tripura Declares Three-Day State Mourning after Speaker Biswabandhu Sen’s Demise


The Government of Tripura has announced a three-day State Mourning following the demise of Biswabandhu Sen, Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly. Sen passed away at 3:30 AM on Friday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bengaluru.

According to an official notification issued by the state government, the mortal remains of the late Speaker will be brought to Agartala on Saturday for the final rites.

As a mark of respect, the State Mourning will be observed from December 26 to 28, during which the National Flag will be flown at half-mast across all government buildings, and there will be no official entertainment.

The government has also declared that all State Government offices, including those outside Tripura, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and educational institutions will remain closed today, December 26.

The notification further stated that a State Funeral will be accorded to Biswabandhu Sen on December 27.

Biswabandhu Sen, a veteran political leader, was serving as the 11th Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly. His death has left the state in deep mourning.
