Assam Government Announces Major Administrative Reshuffle
Dec 25, 2025With under six months to go before the state elections, the Assam government on Wednesday conducted a major administrative reshuffle, transferring 14 IAS and state service officers.
Key changes: Aranyak Saikia (IAS, 2020 batch) has been appointed DC of Karbi Anglong, replacing Nirala Phangshopi (ACS, 1995 batch), now Additional Secretary, Hill Areas Department. Sumit Sattawan moves from Kamrup Metropolitan to Tinsukia, with Swapneel Paul taking charge of Kamrup Metropolitan. Other notable transfers include postings in Sivasagar, Cachar, Dhubri, Bongaigaon, Tamulpur, Golaghat, Kokrajhar, and Darrang districts.
