Tripura Signs MoUs with Patanjali to Boost Investment, Forestry and Agro-Based Development


 In a significant step towards accelerating the state’s development, the Tripura Government on Tuesday signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust, aimed at promoting industrial investment and strengthening forest- and agriculture-based value chains.

The MoUs were signed in the presence of Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha between the state’s Industries & Commerce Department and Forest Department with Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust. The agreements focus on multi-sectoral investment expansion and the development of forest and agriculture-based value-added industries in the state.

Director of Industries & Commerce Dr. Dipak Kumar signed the MoU on behalf of the department, while Principal Chief Conservator of Forests R.K. Samal signed on behalf of the Forest Department. Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust was represented by its CEO and Managing Director, Acharya Balkrishna.

The MoU signing ceremony was held at the conference hall of the Tripura Institution for Transformation and was attended by Industries & Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, OSD to the Chief Minister Pramananda Sarkar Banerjee, senior officials from various departments, and representatives of Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust.

Addressing the media after the event, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said the state government is working with the vision of building a “New Tripura” in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s concept of “New India.” He highlighted Tripura’s rich natural resources and vast potential across multiple sectors.

The Chief Minister stated that the government is continuously working to harness these opportunities to accelerate the state’s overall development and attract investments from across the country and abroad. He expressed optimism that the MoUs would further widen the path of development for Tripura.

Dr. Saha also revealed that Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust plans to invest around Rs 400 Cr in the state. With Patanjali’s support, he said, Tripura has the potential to emerge as a leading organic state in the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Acharya Balkrishna expressed keen interest in contributing to Tripura’s holistic development. He said Patanjali plans to work in sectors such as agriculture, religious tourism, information technology, and skill development through training initiatives. He also assured full cooperation in transforming Tripura into a model state in the coming years.
