PM Modi Begins Three-Nation Tour to Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman


Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday began a three-nation visit to Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman to strengthen India’s diplomatic and strategic ties with the three countries.

In the first leg of the visit, Mr Modi arrived in Jordan at the invitation of King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein. During his stay in Amman, the Prime Minister will hold detailed discussions with King Abdullah and Jordan’s Prime Minister Jafar Hassan. He is also scheduled to meet members of the Indian community, who have played an important role in strengthening India–Jordan relations. The visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Jordan.

From Jordan, the Prime Minister will travel to Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, where he will hold talks with Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed Ali. Mr Modi will also interact with the Indian diaspora and address a joint session of the Ethiopian Parliament.

In the final leg of his tour, Mr Modi will visit Muscat, Oman, marking 70 years of diplomatic relations between India and Oman. During the visit, he will hold discussions with the Sultan of Oman and address a gathering of the Indian community in the country.
