Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ Barred from Release across Gulf Countries
Dec 11, 2025
Ranveer Singh’s latest action drama Dhurandhar is enjoying a strong run at the global box office, collecting an impressive ₹44.08 crore overseas within just four days. However, the film’s earnings could have been even higher had it secured a release in the Gulf region.
According to reports, all major Gulf countries — including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE — have declined to release Dhurandhar. The decision reportedly stems from concerns over the film’s theme, which is perceived as “anti-Pakistan.” Films with similar narratives have previously faced censorship hurdles in the GCC, and despite efforts from the makers, authorities did not approve the movie for theatrical screening.
Directed by Aditya Datt, Dhurandhar features an ensemble cast comprising Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, and lead star Ranveer Singh. The story follows an Indian officer who infiltrates Pakistan, where he dismantles elements within the underworld and political establishment.
Despite the setback in the Gulf, Dhurandhar continues to perform strongly in other international markets.
