ADB Lowers Bangladesh Growth Forecast to 4.7% on Weak Exports
Dec 11, 2025
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has once again downgraded Bangladesh’s economic outlook, cutting its growth projection for fiscal year 2025–26 to 4.7 percent. This marks the third downward revision this year, following earlier forecasts of 5.1 percent in April and 5.0 percent in September.
According to the ADB, the latest adjustment reflects persistent weakness in Bangladesh’s export performance, which continues to weigh on overall economic activity. The decline in global demand, coupled with domestic challenges, has dampened manufacturing output and slowed the pace of recovery.
The bank noted that while Bangladesh retains strong long-term potential, sustained reform efforts and improved external conditions will be essential to restoring higher growth levels in the coming years.
