PM Modi, Amit Shah Honour Sacrifices of Assam Movement on Swahid Diwas
Dec 10, 2025Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday commemorated Swahid Diwas by paying tribute to all those who participated in the Assam Movement, recalling their valour and enduring contribution to the nation. In a social media post, the Prime Minister said the movement would always hold a significant place in India’s history. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of the movement’s participants, particularly the preservation of Assam’s cultural identity and the state’s holistic development.
Home Minister Amit Shah also marked the occasion by honouring the sacrifices made by the people of Assam during the movement. Describing their efforts as a “peerless example of patriotism,” Shah said the citizens had shaped the history of the state despite facing numerous challenges. He added that the NDA government, led by Prime Minister Modi, remains dedicated to realising their dreams and guiding Assam on a path of peace, progress, and growth.
