Troops of the 104 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) have arrested a Bangladeshi citizen while he was allegedly attempting to cross the border and return to Bangladesh. The incident took place around 10 p.m. on Sunday night in the Phoromura area near the India–Bangladesh border.
According to reports, the man, identified as Abul Hossain, was intercepted during routine patrol. He was subsequently taken into custody and handed over to Khowai Police Station on Monday morning.
During interrogation, Hossain reportedly admitted that he had been living in India illegally for the past seven years. Police officials stated that appropriate legal action is being initiated against him as per the relevant laws.
