Governor Visits NDRF 1st Battalion


Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu on Thursday visited the RRC Agartala 1st Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) located at Gakul Nagar, where he reviewed the unit’s ongoing preparedness and disaster-response capabilities.

Upon his arrival, the Governor was welcomed by senior NDRF officials and briefed on the battalion’s operational structure, recent activities, and the range of emergencies it handles across the region. Officers presented an overview of the team’s role in responding to natural calamities such as floods, cyclones, earthquakes, and landslides, as well as its involvement in community-awareness programmes on disaster management.

Governor Nallu interacted with personnel during a demonstration of rescue techniques and equipment used during emergency operations. He praised the diligence, discipline, and commitment displayed by the team, noting that the NDRF plays a crucial role in safeguarding lives in disaster-prone areas of the Northeast.

He also emphasized the importance of continuous training, coordination with state agencies, and public-awareness initiatives to strengthen the overall disaster-response mechanism of Tripura. The Governor expressed appreciation for the battalion’s contributions and encouraged them to maintain high standards of readiness.
