Dec 02, 2025
A devastating fire broke out late Monday night in the Baishgharia area under Teliamura Police Station, reducing one shop and three residential houses to ashes. The incident has triggered widespread panic and speculation throughout the locality.
According to reports, the victims of the blaze have been identified as Kader Miah, Billal Hossain, and Gani Miah. Kader Miah’s shop was completely destroyed, while the homes and kitchens of Billal and Gani were burnt down entirely.
Speaking to reporters, victim Billal Hossain alleged that “unknown miscreants might have poured petrol under the cover of darkness to set the fire.” However, police have stated that the cause of the fire is still under investigation, and no conclusions can be drawn without proper verification.
Local residents claim that one of the affected individuals, Gani Miah, is locally known for alleged involvement in drug-related activities. He has reportedly faced previous charges under the NDPS Act, POCSO, and other sections. These allegations, however, remain part of public speculation at this stage and have not been officially linked to the fire.
The incident has sparked intense discussions and uncertainty in the area as residents await the findings of the police investigation. Authorities are examining all possible angles, including the possibility of sabotage.
Although an official assessment of the damage is yet to be completed, preliminary estimates suggest losses amounting to Rs 10–12 lakh.
Police continue to investigate the incident to determine the exact cause of the fire and whether foul play was involved.
