Dec 01, 2025
One of the oldest educational institutions in the state, the Ramakrishna Educational Institute of Kailashahar, has entered its glorious 75th year. To mark the occasion, a week-long celebration began on Monday afternoon on the school grounds. Minister Tinku Roy inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
The event was attended by Girishananda Maharaj, head of the Kailashahar Ramakrishna Mission Ashram; Chairperson of Kailashahar Municipal Council, Chapla Rani Debroy; Unakoti District Superintendent of Police Sudhambika R; Education Department official Prashanta Kilakdar; and Headmaster of the Ramakrishna Educational Institute, Aseem Chakraborty, among other distinguished guests.
Current and former students, along with teachers of the school, presented the inaugural song. A day earlier, on November 30, a colourful and well-decorated rally was held across the town, witnessing participation from Minister Tinku Roy, local MLA Birajit Sinha, and a large section of residents.
Welcoming everyone at the opening ceremony, Headmaster Aseem Chakraborty delivered the introductory address. In his speech, Girishananda Maharaj highlighted the institute’s 75-year journey of excellence and its commitment to imparting education inspired by the ideals of the Ramakrishna Order. He also praised the overall progress of the institution.
During the programme, the families of four former headmasters who are no longer alive—Phanibhusan Acharya, Chitta Ranjan Acharyya, Kunja Mohan Karmakar, and Kamala Kanta Dutta Purakayastha—were felicitated with honorary citations. Recently retired headmaster Makhon Chandra Dhar and the current headmaster, Aseem Chakraborty, were also honoured.
The week-long festivities will feature an alumni meet, drawing competition, various sports events, social service activities, and cultural programmes every evening. Alongside local and state-level performers, renowned artists from Tollywood and Bollywood are also scheduled to perform.
