Nagaland Marks 63rd Statehood Day with Calls for Peace, Unity and Development

Nagaland today celebrated its 63rd Statehood Day, commemorating its formation as the 16th state of India on 1 December 1963. Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla extended warm greetings to the people of the state and paid tribute to the resilience and aspirations of the Naga community, acknowledging the vision of the pioneers who shaped Nagaland’s early journey.
In his message, the Governor called for a renewed commitment to peace, development and unity, describing them as the pillars that will continue to guide the state’s future. He reaffirmed the government’s focus on inclusive development, improved connectivity, transparent governance, and expanding opportunities for all citizens. Sustained peace, cooperation and dialogue, he said, remain essential to realising the state’s collective aspirations for long-term progress.
The Governor also urged citizens to embrace innovation while preserving cultural identity, stressing the shared responsibility to nurture peace, empower youth, protect traditions, and build a vibrant and forward-looking Nagaland.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio also extended greetings on the occasion through a message on X. He honoured the leaders who safeguarded Naga identity over the decades and called for collective efforts to build a prosperous, inclusive and sustainable future for the state.
