Cyclone Ditwah Likely to Hit Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Coast by Tomorrow Morning


The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh as Cyclone Ditwah is expected to make landfall by early tomorrow morning. The cyclone is moving north-northwest over the southwest Bay of Bengal and is predicted to come within 60 kilometres of the Tamil Nadu coastline by midnight tonight.

Heavy rainfall is forecast across the region, with isolated extremely heavy showers in Tamil Nadu until tomorrow. Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema are also likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall until Monday.

Authorities have advised fishermen not to venture into the coastal waters of Sri Lanka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and south Andhra Pradesh until Monday. Residents are urged to remain cautious and follow local safety advisories.
