Nov 28, 2025
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday unveiled a nine-point mantra aimed at fostering a self-reliant India, urging citizens to adopt resolutions that promote national development, cultural preservation and sustainable living. Addressing devotees at the historic Sri Krishna Mutt in Udupi, the Prime Minister called for collective participation in initiatives that strengthen the nation’s social and economic fabric.
Modi appealed to citizens, devotees, and spiritual leaders to support key initiatives, including water and river conservation, the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam tree-planting campaign, and personal efforts to help uplift at least one economically disadvantaged individual. Emphasizing the importance of local enterprise, he encouraged the promotion of the Swadeshi movement to safeguard India’s economy and entrepreneurs.
The Prime Minister also advocated natural farming practices, the inclusion of millets in daily diets for healthier lifestyles, reduced use of cooking oil, and the adoption of Yoga as a routine part of life. Among the nine resolutions, he stressed the need to conserve India’s ancient manuscripts, noting that traditional knowledge must be preserved and passed on to future generations. He further urged citizens to explore the country’s cultural diversity by visiting 25 heritage sites.
Modi highlighted that many central government programmes draw inspiration from the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, including principles such as Sarvejana Sukhino Bhavantu, Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, and Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitaha. These values, he said, have guided initiatives like Ayushman Bharat, PM Awas Yojana, Nari Shakti Abhiyan, the International Solar Alliance, and Mission Sudarshana Chakra for national security.
During his visit, the Prime Minister participated in a group recitation of the Bhagavad Gita, known as Gita Parayana. He also inaugurated the gold-plated Tirtha Mantapa and dedicated the gold-plated Kanaka Kindi, the sacred window through which Lord Krishna is believed to have revealed himself to saint Kanakadasa.
The event was attended by Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Union Minister Prahlad Joshi, Dharmastala Dharmadhikari Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, and Udupi Puttige Mutt seer Sugunendra Teertha Swamiji. On the occasion, the Puttige Seer conferred upon the Prime Minister the title “Bharata Bhagya Vidhata.”
