President Droupadi Murmu Leads Preamble Reading on Constitution Day at Samvidhan Sadan

President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday led the reading of the Preamble to the Indian Constitution at the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan to mark Constitution Day. Speaking on the occasion, the President described the Constitution as the cornerstone of India’s national identity and a framework for steering the nation forward, replacing colonial mindsets with a nationalist vision. She emphasized that it ensures the protection of both collective and individual dignity while providing a platform for the aspirations of the people.
Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan said the Constitution reflects the collective wisdom, sacrifices, and dreams of millions of freedom fighters and members of the Constituent Assembly. He paid tribute to key architects, including Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, N. Gopalaswamy Ayyangar, and Alladi Krishnaswamy Iyer, and highlighted that the Constitution has ensured India remains united.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that under the guidance of the Constitution, India has undertaken a transformative journey of governance and socio-economic development. He noted that the Constitution has guided policy-making to promote social justice and inclusive growth, and stressed that adhering to its principles will help India achieve the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
On the occasion, President Murmu also released translated versions of the Constitution in nine languages — Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Punjabi, Bodo, Kashmiri, Telugu, Odia, and Assamese — to make the document more accessible to citizens across the country.
