Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday visited the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, and ceremonially hoisted the saffron Dharm Dhwaja atop the temple’s shikhar. The ceremony marked a significant milestone, symbolising the completion of the temple’s construction and ushering in what the Prime Minister described as a new era of cultural celebration and national unity.
Amidthousands of devotees chanting “Jai Shri Ram” and the resonating sound of shankh dhvani, the Dharm Dhwaja was raised on the auspicious occasion of Vivah Panchami, during the sacred Abhijeet Muhurt. The triangular saffron flag—10 feet high and 20 feet long—features a radiant Sun, the sacred ‘Om’, and the Kovidara tree, collectively signifying the divine brilliance and valour of Bhagwan Shri Ram.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi led a grand roadshow through Ayodhya, drawing thousands of people eager to catch a glimpse of him. Following the roadshow, he visited several revered temples in the region, beginning with the Saptmandir complex, which houses shrines dedicated to Maharshi Vashishtha, Maharshi Vishwamitra, Maharshi Agastya, Maharshi Valmiki, Devi Ahilya, Nishadraj Guha and Mata Shabari.
He later visited the Sheshavatar Mandir, considered one of the rare temples of Lord Rama, as well as the Mata Annapurna Mandir. The Prime Minister concluded his visit by performing Darshan and Pooja at the Ram Lalla Garbha Grah.
