Tripura Cabinet Moves to Regularise Ad-Hoc Promotion Policy for State Employees

The state government has decided to regularise the ad-hoc promotion policy introduced in 2021 for its employees. Minister Sushanta Chowdhury announced the decision during a press conference at the Secretariat on Monday evening.

Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said the government had adopted the ad-hoc promotion system because a related case on service promotions was pending before the Supreme Court. Under this temporary policy, more than 13,082 state government employees received ad-hoc promotions up to June 2025.

He noted that employees who retired after receiving ad-hoc promotions had been suffering financial disadvantages. Considering the overall situation and the welfare of its workforce, the government has decided to extend the benefits of regularisation to all employees, including those already retired.

Chowdhury clarified that the Cabinet’s decision will be implemented subject to the final outcome of the ongoing Supreme Court case.
