4 Youths Detained with Firearms in Kailashahar, Stir Panic in Tilakpur

Tension gripped Kailashahar’s Tilakpur area on Sunday night after residents spotted four young men roaming suspiciously with firearms near Unakoti Hospital. The incident occurred around 10 p.m., prompting locals to surround the youths and detain them. In the ensuing chaos, the crowd assaulted the group before authorities arrived.
The detained youths have been identified as Dilwar Hossain, Arsad Ali, Suhel Mia and Asraf Ali — all residents of Tilakpur and Dhepatchhara in Kailashahar. Responding to alerts from locals, the fire service and later the police reached the spot, rescuing the four in injured condition. They were immediately taken to Unakoti District Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Officer-in-Charge of Kailashahar Police Station, Tapas Malakar, confirmed the recovery of two firearms from the youths. “We reached Tilakpur promptly after receiving complaints from local residents. The four had been held by the public. Two guns were recovered from their possession. An investigation is underway, and all aspects of the incident are being examined,” he said.
Following the incident, panic spread across Tilakpur and nearby areas, with residents voicing concerns over safety. Police officials have assured that the situation is under control and that surveillance in the locality has been intensified.
