Lakshya Sen Captures First Title of 2025 with Dominant Australian Open Victory
Nov 23, 2025
Indian badminton ace Lakshya Sen kicked off his 2025 season in style, securing the men’s singles crown at the Australian Open in Sydney on Sunday. The 23-year-old delivered a commanding performance against Japan’s Yushi Tanaka, winning 21-15, 21-11 in a one-sided final.
The victory marks Sen’s first title of the year and his first tournament win since the Lucknow Super 300 in 2024. While he had reached the final of the Hong Kong Super 500 in September last year, a major title had remained just out of reach. Sen, a bronze medallist at the 2021 World Championships, now adds another Super 300 title to his growing list of achievements as he aims for a strong year ahead on the international circuit.
