Nation Cannot Advance Without Women’s Upliftment: Dr Manik Saha
Nov 23, 2025
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday placed a renewed spotlight on women’s empowerment, describing it as the foundation upon which true social and economic progress must be built. Speaking at a women’s conference in Agartala, Dr. Saha made it clear that the state’s development roadmap begins with strengthening the role of women, especially in rural communities.
The programme, held at the Muktadhara Auditorium, was organised by the Mahila Morcha of Bordowali Mandal as part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan. The auditorium buzzed with participation as women from diverse backgrounds gathered to discuss issues that shape their lives and livelihoods.
In his address, the Chief Minister emphasized that any vision of a stronger state or nation must place rural women at its centre. “If rural women do not see socio-economic improvement, the state and the country cannot move forward,” he reminded the audience, calling attention to the often-overlooked challenges faced by women outside urban centres.
Dr. Saha also highlighted the broad spectrum of women-centric schemes introduced by the Central Government in recent years—initiatives focused on financial independence, skill development, health, and safety. He assured that the Tripura Government is working relentlessly to ensure these benefits reach the grassroots where they can create the most impact.
The conference not only showcased policy discussions but also reflected the growing confidence and awareness among women across Tripura, signalling a rising momentum behind empowerment efforts in the state.
