Finance Minister Sitharaman Holds 11th Pre-Budget Consultation With Infrastructure and Energy Experts

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday chaired the 11th Pre-Budget Consultation with experts from the infrastructure and energy sectors in New Delhi, as part of the ongoing preparations for the Union Budget 2026–27.

The meeting was attended by senior government officials, including the Secretaries of the Ministry of Power, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, as well as the Chairman of the Railway Board and the Chief Economic Adviser. Discussions focused on sectoral priorities, infrastructure expansion, and strategies to support sustainable economic growth.

Friday’s session followed another consultation held on Thursday with representatives from trade unions, labour organisations, and the tourism and hospitality sector. The Finance Ministry conducts a series of such pre-Budget meetings every year to gather insights from industry experts, economists, and stakeholders across sectors. These deliberations help ensure that the Union Budget reflects diverse viewpoints and addresses key economic and developmental objectives.
