Tripura Cabinet Approves 407 New Government Posts and Elevates Two Colleges to State Universities

In a major move aimed at boosting employment, education, and rural development, the Tripura cabinet, led by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, on Tuesday approved recruitment for 407 new posts across various government departments.

Briefing reporters after the cabinet meeting, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury  on Wednesday said the recruitment drive will include 97 auditors, investigators, and statistical investigators for the Cooperation Department through the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura (JRBT), and 28 ICDS supervisors appointed by the Tripura Civil Service Commission.

The government also sanctioned the establishment of 119 new anganwadi centres to strengthen rural childcare and early education, with an equal number of anganwadi workers and helpers to be recruited.

In a significant boost to higher education in the state, the cabinet approved the upgradation of Tripura Institute of Technology (TIT) and Tripura Women’s College into full-fledged state universities. TIT will now serve as a technical university overseeing all technical institutions in the state, while Tripura Women’s College will become a dedicated state-run university for women’s education.

“These decisions will strengthen both technical and general higher education, adding to the existing network of state-run MBB University, Tripura University, and the National Forensic Science University,” Minister Chowdhury said.
