Nov 19, 2025
Nagaland has announced Switzerland and Ireland as official country partners for the Hornbill Festival 2025, further elevating the event’s profile as a major global cultural celebration. The confirmations came after Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio held separate meetings with the ambassadors of both countries in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Switzerland’s participation was finalized during a meeting between Chief Minister Rio and Swiss Ambassador Maya Tissafi. Welcoming the collaboration, Ambassador Tissafi said the partnership would help strengthen cultural ties and open avenues for future cooperation across multiple sectors.
In a similar development, the Chief Minister met with Irish Ambassador Kevin Kelly to confirm Ireland’s role as another country partner for the upcoming edition of the festival. Ireland’s involvement is expected to bring an extensive cultural programme featuring folk music, theatre, literary events, public art installations, and dialogue sessions.
Ambassador Kelly noted that Ireland’s partnership reflects the growing cultural and diplomatic relationship between Ireland and India.
