Sikkim to Open Doklam and Cho La for Tourists by December 15

Sikkim’s Additional Chief Secretary for Tourism, C.S. Rao, has announced that the strategically significant locations of Doklam and Cho La will be opened to tourists by 15 December under the Centre’s battlefield tourism initiative.

The sites were originally scheduled for inauguration on 27 September, but the state government later revised the timeline. Speaking to the media in Gangtok, Rao said that all pending work is being expedited to meet the new deadline. He added that infrastructure development at both locations is nearing completion, ensuring that visitors will be able to access the sites comfortably.

Doklam, situated at an altitude of nearly 14,000 feet and about 70 kilometres from Gangtok, is known for its strategic importance. Cho La, on the other hand, holds historical significance as the site of the 1967 clash between Indian and Chinese troops.
