PM Modi Inaugurates, Lays Foundation Stone for Rs 9,700-Crore Projects in Gujarat’s Narmada District

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth over ₹9,700 crore in Dediapada, located in the tribal-dominated Narmada district of Gujarat. The initiatives span key sectors including infrastructure, health, education and heritage, with a strong emphasis on tribal welfare and empowerment.

The event coincided with Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, observed to mark the 150th birth anniversary of legendary tribal leader and freedom fighter Birsa Munda. Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said that tribal pride has been an integral part of India’s cultural consciousness for thousands of years. He noted that tribal communities have consistently stood at the forefront whenever the nation’s honour, self-respect and sovereignty were at stake.

Highlighting the contributions of tribal communities to India’s freedom movement, Mr. Modi said the country would always remain indebted to their sacrifices and leadership. He also announced the establishment of the Shri Govind Guru Chair Tribal Language Promotion Center, where research will be conducted on various tribal dialects. The centre will also work to preserve traditional stories, songs and cultural expressions.

The Prime Minister reiterated his government’s commitment to accelerating development in tribal regions and ensuring that the benefits of growth reach every community in the country.
