MNF’s R. Lalthangliana Wins Dampa Bypoll in Mizoram
Nov 14, 2025The Mizo National Front (MNF) on Friday retained the Dampa Assembly seat, with its candidate R. Lalthangliana securing a decisive victory in the by-election.
According to the Election Commission, Lalthangliana won 6,981 votes, accounting for 40.23% of the total votes cast. His closest rival, Vanlalsailova of the ruling Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM), garnered 6,419 votes, representing 36.61% of the vote share. Lalthangliana won by a margin of 562 votes.
Speaking after the results were declared, Lalthangliana dedicated his victory to the people of Dampa and attributed his success to divine guidance. “My victory is not for me, but for the people of Dampa constituency. I give all the credit to God Almighty, who has prepared a way for me. God did everything for me, and I am just an instrument,” he said.
