Cabinet Approves Credit Guarantee Scheme for Exporters to Boost Competitiveness and Self-Reliance

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a Credit Guarantee Scheme for Exporters, a move that Prime Minister Narendra Modi said will enhance India’s global competitiveness, ensure smoother business operations, and strengthen the country’s path toward self-reliance.

In a series of posts on social media, Prime Minister Modi lauded the Cabinet’s decisions, describing them as pivotal for India’s export growth and economic resilience. He said the new Export Promotion Mission (EPM) will play a vital role in improving export competitiveness, particularly for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), first-time exporters, and labour-intensive sectors.

“The Export Promotion Mission brings together key stakeholders to build an outcome-based and effective mechanism,” Mr. Modi said, emphasizing that the initiative aims to create a more enabling ecosystem for Indian exporters to thrive in global markets.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the Cabinet’s decision to rationalize royalty rates for critical minerals, calling it a significant step toward promoting sustainability and self-reliance. According to him, the move will not only strengthen domestic supply chains but also generate new employment opportunities across related industries.
