NIA Cracks Down on Illegal Entry Network: Raids Sweep across Tripura’s Border Districts

In a major crackdown on cross-border infiltration networks, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted extensive raids across multiple locations in Tripura earlier this week, as part of its probe into the 2023 illegal entry case.

A special team from the NIA Guwahati Branch, assisted by the Tripura Police, launched coordinated searches in Kumarghat, Kailashahar, and several border villages of North District on Wednesday. The operation began after the team arrived in the state on November 10, targeting individuals suspected of facilitating unauthorized entry into India from across the northeastern border.

According to sources, the investigation is focused on tracing two individuals — Paritosh Shil (45), son of Putul Ch. Shil, a resident of Bhagyapur under Kailashahar Police Station, and Ranu Pal (42) from Nidevi area under Kumarghat Police Station. Both are believed to have links to networks involved in organizing illegal border crossings.

While officials have not confirmed any arrests so far, several leads have reportedly emerged from the searches. Digital devices, documents, and other materials were allegedly seized for forensic examination.

Authorities have since tightened security across sensitive areas along the Tripura-Bangladesh border, anticipating further action in the coming days.
