UK Updates India Travel Advisory Following Red Fort Blast in Delhi

The United Kingdom has issued an updated travel advisory for India a day after a blast occurred near Delhi’s iconic Red Fort Metro Station. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has urged British nationals to follow instructions from local authorities and stay updated through local media.

In its latest advisory, released on November 10, 2025, the FCDO warned against travel to several regions due to heightened security risks. All travel within 10 kilometres of the India–Pakistan border is strongly discouraged, as the Wagah–Attari crossing remains closed.

The advisory also advises against visiting the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, including popular tourist destinations such as Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Srinagar, and the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway. Exceptions are limited to air travel to and from Jammu city and movement within the city itself. In the north-eastern state of Manipur, only essential travel is recommended.

The FCDO cautioned that travelling to areas under advisory could invalidate travel insurance and recommended that visitors secure comprehensive insurance covering all planned activities and emergencies. The advisory also reminded travellers that no destination can be guaranteed entirely safe and encouraged them to review safety guidance for women, LGBT+ individuals, and solo or disabled travellers.

British nationals are advised to stay alert, subscribe to FCDO email notifications for real-time updates, and check official sources, including the GOV.UK website and the FCDO’s verified social media channels.
